As a patent attorney at COHAUSZ & FLORACK, Dr. Tobias Hoheisel advises German and international companies, start-ups, and universities on all matters relating to IP law in the entire field of chemistry as well as life sciences and renewable energies. Clients benefit from his comprehensive technical and legal expertise, his analytical skills, and his determination.

Dr. Hoheisel advises and supports his clients in establishing, defending, and enforcing their IP portfolios and in dealing with competitors’ IP rights. In addition to drafting patent applications and infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions, he represents his clients in opposition and revocation suits before the European Patent Office, the German Patent and Trademark Office, and the Federal Patent Court (Bundespatentgericht) and is involved in infringement proceedings. Dr. Hoheisel has also been authorized as a representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) since 2023.

After studying chemistry specializing in biological, organic, and polymer chemistry at ETH Zurich, including a period as an Erasmus student at Cambridge University, he completed his doctorate on carbon-rich nanomaterials from molecular precursors at ETH Zurich and EPFL Lausanne. Dr. Hoheisel then spent one and a half years working as a postdoc at Cornell University in the USA, supported by a scholarship from the Swiss National Science Foundation, in the field of polymer-inorganic and polymer-organic hybrid materials, including for battery applications.

Since 2018, he has been admitted as a German patent attorney and professional representative before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
