Janina Ertmer holds a doctorate in physics and, as a patent attorney at COHAUSZ & FLORACK, advises well-known German and international companies in all areas of IP law and assists in the management of their IP portfolios.
She already specialized in the fields of plasma physics and nuclear fusion during her bachelor’s degree in physics at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and as a DAAD scholarship holder during her master’s degree at the University of York (UK). She gained practical experience as a research assistant at Culham Centre for Fusion Energy in Oxfordshire (UK), among other positions. While completing her doctorate at Forschungszentrum Jülich as part of the “Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate” program at Ruhr University Bochum and Ghent University (Belgium), she researched the development of intelligent plasma- and oxidation-resistant tungsten alloys for use in nuclear fusion reactors. She is still involved in a lively scientific exchange on the results of her research work today and has already presented at numerous international conferences and published specialist articles.
Dr. Janina Ertmer began her patent attorney training at COHAUSZ & FLORACK at the beginning of 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Rox and Dr. Henning Sternemann. She was admitted as a representative before the European Patent Office (EPO) in July 2023, and was then admitted as a German patent attorney in spring 2024. With her extensive expertise, she has been a valuable member of the COHAUSZ & FLORACK patent attorney team since May 2024.
